Emily Sano

Dr. Sano will discuss the challenges of collecting art today and compare her previous experiences purchasing art for a Museum as opposed to working with a private collector. She will talk about the current market in Japanese art and describe some pieces she has participated in acquiring, as well as some of her favorite pieces.

Dr. Sano is Director emeritus of the Asian and is well known to our audience. She was Director of the AAM when we moved from Golden Gate Park to the Civic Center and was very much involved with all aspects of the relocation. She has an M.A. and PhD from Columbia and worked at the Asian for 15 years.
