This exhibition of ceramics reimagined through a dazzling diversity of forms, textures and techniques showcases recent gifts from the collection of Dr. Phyllis A. Kempner and Dr. David Stein. The world of contemporary Japanese ceramics is brimming with dynamic approaches to the medium of clay. The unconventional techniques in this exhibit expands the possibilities of this art form with a new generation of potters building on the legacy of the mingei folk art movement.

AAM Chief Curator Dr. Robert Mintz will give a short presentation on the pieces on view, and then lead us on a tour of the exhibition, giving us insights into modern Japanese clay.
