The Annual Meeting and Reception took place on Thurs., June 2 in Samsung Hall at the Asian Art Museum. Those in attendance were able to mingle over drinks from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. President Ehler Spliedt opened the meeting at 4:00 p.m. He thanked retiring board members, Margaret Edwards, Etsuko Kobata and Pamela Royse and presented certificates of appreciation. An election was held to elect new board members as well as those serving an additional two-year term.

Arts of Asia Zoom Webinar FAQ's

Here is a refresher about Zoom webinars before the start of the next Arts of Asia lecture series. Registered attendees of the lecture series can choose to attend the lectures in-person in Samsung Hall or on Zoom. Drop-ins for individual lectures are only available in-person in Samsung Hall on a space available basis. The lectures in the Arts of Asia lecture series are organized as 14 separate Zoom webinars. Registered attendees will receive a Zoom webinar confirmation email each week, no later than Wednesday, with information on how to join that Friday's webinar. Registered attendees will also receive reminder emails one day and one hour before the webinar. All emails are sent by Zoom from no-reply@zoom.us. Please add this email address to your contacts to avoid these emails being placed in a spam folder. In addition, please do not reply to these Zoom webinar emails, because they will not be received by the SAA.

No Arts of Asia Lecture on March 11, 2022

We received word this evening from the speaker for tomorrow's Arts of Asia lecture that he has tested positive for COVID. So, there will not be a lecture on March 11, 2022 either in person or on Zoom. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause.

As soon as we are able to confirm Samsung Hall availability and work out a new date with the speaker, we will announce the rescheduled date via email and on the website.

Arts of Asia Lectures Return to Samsung Hall Starting March 4, 2022

As we return to Samsung Hall to greet friends in-person once again, we will observe additional safety precautions. Your attendance at these in-person lectures constitutes your agreement to present proof of full COVID vaccination including booster shot and a photo ID, and that you will always wear a mask over your nose and mouth.

Jan. & Feb. Arts of Asia Lectures on Zoom Only

The unexpected spread of the omicron variant is forcing us to move the January and February Arts of Asia lectures to Zoom only. The date and times remain the same, but we will not have a live audience in Samsung Hall.
