An Afternoon of Jade With Marilu Klar
Due to the popularity of this sold-out event last year, we are offering another trip to Gump’s Jade Collection. Priority will be given to those who were unable to be accommodated previously. Ms. Marilu Klar, iconic buyer and creator of jewelry for Gump’s for over 50 years, will speak to us about jade and jade jewelry in particular. She is a renowned expert on jade and pearls. We will also have an opportunity to handle some of the beautiful pieces she has collected for the store.
Ms. Klar was trained at the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design and UC Berkeley. She joined the staff at Gump’s in 1960. She has lectured around the country on the collections of jade and pearls that she created for Gump’s. She has a reputation for finding gemstones that meet the highest standards of quality and beauty and has had admirers from Barbara Hutton to Queen Sofia of Spain.
Registration Policies
The Society for Asian Art's cancellation policy requires at least one week's advance written notice in order to receive a refund of registration fees. This excludes our Travel programs, which have separate cancellation policies, as well as any programs where a specific refund policy is stated on the event page. Your fees will be returned to you through a check in the mail. To cancel, please contact us.
For programs located within the Asian Art Museum, the museum entrance fee must be paid separately and is not included with your registration fee.
