The idea of 'gorgeous,' and whether it is valuable, has always been debated. Our upcoming exhibition of artwork from the Asian and SFMOMA explores the extremes and ambiguities of what might be considered gorgeous: from luxurious ornamentation to austere simplicity. Through two very dissimilar collections with very dissimilar histories, Gorgeous will challenge visitors to view iconic artwork in new frameworks.

Join curators Forrest McGill and Allison Harding in conversation to think about the question "What is gorgeous?" There are no wrong answers. We ask you to accept the curators' challenge to view artworks with no preconceptions. We look forward to a lively debate!
