Jerry Janssen and Russ Young invite you to an evening of sensory delights at ORIENTATIONS in the fabulous historic Marsh Building, Monterey.

THE SCHEDULE:

Saturday evening, March 29:
6:30 pm: Wine and wander time.  There is much to see:  new shipments of tansu, Chinese furniture, South Asian sculpture, an important collection of silver betel boxes and some fine Japanese ceramics.  The setting, as those of you who have been there before will know, is magical.

7:30 pm:  Buffet dinner with ample comfortable table seating throughout this elegant space.  The Asian themed menu is mouth-watering.

Sunday morning, March 30:
10:30 am:  Rendezvous back at Orientations for a Continental breakfast and a short talk on the history and art of betel nut boxes by Emily Newell.  ADDED FUN:  Jerry and Russ have invited us to do an SAA show-and-tell.  Bring a small object that you would like to share with the group (new acquisition? an especially odd or beautiful or complex piece?).  One object per person, please!

Jerry and Russ will feed us royally as they always do in their elegant, literally jaw-dropping setting, and they’ll welcome us back for a lecture on Sunday morning with coffee, tea, and breakfast nibbles. Transportation and overnight arrangements are on your own. The SAA office has a list of hotels close to Orientations. You won’t want to miss this fabulous event!
