Peter Pap has been a dealer in antique oriental rugs for over 40 years and is recognized internationally as one of the foremost experts in antique oriental rugs, carpets and tribal weavings. This Study Group provides a rare opportunity to have one of the world’s authorities discuss and show examples of Near and Middle Eastern rugs and carpets. Mr. Pap’s presentation will reference the origin and motifs of various rugs, as well as those elements that distinguish a rug of ordinary weaving and design from a truly great example.

Besides his gallery in San Francisco, he has a gallery in Dublin, New Hampshire and a small presence in New York City. Mr. Pap has also exhibited extensively at antique shows throughout the country, the most notable of which is the Winter Antiques Show in New York, where he has been the sole U.S. invitee in his field for the last 20 years. He has been featured in numerous publications and has been a guest appraiser on PBS’s Antique Road Show for the last ten seasons. Visit his website at http://www.peterpap.com
